Project SPLASH! will offer swimming lessons to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (particularly children on the autism spectrum) at no cost to their families. With a 1:1 instructor-to-child ratio, Project SPLASH! will offer the most individualized instruction possible. Working with the parent(s) of the child, the instructor will develop personalized swimming goals for each semester. Participants will be paired with one instructor for the entire semester to help develop a trusting relationship. Lessons will be offered to children between the ages of 4 and 8 (special requests being considered on a case-by-case basis). The goal of this program is to increase water safety and offer families a safe space that is sensitive to their child(ren)’s needs.
